★ SCRAPSTARS CHALLENGE #1 ★ "The Soundtrack of My Life"

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!! our site is finally LIVE AND OPEN FOR ACTION! woo hoo ☺!!!!!!

our first challenge is "Soundtrack of my Life" -- do a LO of your favorite bands / songs that you consider to fall under that category... the twist is that you have to use at least one album cover somewhere on your page!! ☺

sorry about the blurry pic - in part why we were delayed from our original release date of Tuesday: i have been traveling back and forth between ohio and texas and have somehow lost the USB cord for my camera somewhere in between :( so i had to settle for a cell phone pic instead ! my apologies - i promise i will put better pics of this up when i get a new cord - it looks more fabulous in better quality ;)

thank you a bunch for checking it out, and thanks to everyone who has supported us in getting our site off the ground!! we are super-excited to be able to share finally - and we can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for our challenge!!! good luck, ladies, rock it out!!! we love ya ♥

another one for my "mono" series...

Sneaky Peaky :]

wondering what this is all about?

me and a few of my girlies have a surprise in the works!! more details soon.....

i think i could have done SO much more w/ this page!! i just got tired of working on it.... it's actually version 2.0 - funny story:

the first version looked exactly like this except the music paper was thinner and ran horizontally (where the stars are). i thought it would be cool to paint my hand w/ white and slap it in the middle behind the "Scrapstars" then add a few stars from various masks... uh not so much :P

the first coat of white paint dried on my hand before i got it on the paper because it put it on w/ a paintbrush.... not the smartest idea i had today. so then i finally just squirted a bunch of paint all over the paint paper on my desk, smeared my hand around in it till it was nice and gooey, and smacked it on the paper.....

it looked like Neanderthal hand.

seriously, i tried to fix it but it just got worse and worse. so i tore it all off the page and started again. THIS TIME NO PAINT.

i ran out of embellies that would be good for this situation, and gave up about 2:00AM with this being the final result. it will hang on my wall above my desk as a little "inspiration poster" of sorts.

meanwhile you get to wonder what it means.

Happy Birthday (Mom)!!!

this card i made for my "mom" - aka Shannon's mom, Veronica :)
her birthday is Thursday.

i had really hoped to get my hands on the new Love, Elsie lines that went exclusively to Hobby Lobby last week, for the dragonflies (bc they're her fave) but they didn't have it at my Hobby Lobby :( i was bummed.

BUT it did give me an excuse to use the Sassafras Lass i've been hanging onto forever.... waiting for the perfect project, of course! think this was it!!

hope she likes, it goes postal tomorrow ;)

paint & wanted posters

i finally PAINTED on one of my scrapbook pages...
i'm so excited/nervous!!!! it was all really fun though!

the first page is of my nephew; my BIL is a hatmaker, and he found the hat and altered it so it would fit on his cute little head!!! i thought the wanted paper was a good choice, and it worked out so well!! the caption reads: "My DAD makes awesome hats... and I wear 'em good!!"

the second page is for the ScrapMojo challenge... to use the quote from Dr. Seuss and use a book cover for inspiration. mine started with "The Cat in the Hat" -- but you can see where i took it and ran away with it! the girl is Kiana - my stepson's half-sister. thought it would be a nice gift for Shannon (their momma), since i have been making some for my SIL too. the paint was funnn.... and messy. i used bubble wrap to stamp on the paint, then i cut a strip of it off and adhered to the polka dot ribbon... which you can't tell because i had to take pics w/ my cam for these - my scanner just wasn't cutting it tonight :P

thanks for stopping by as always!!
and thanks bunches to ScrapMojo for keeping my wheels 'a turnin!

worth 1,000

before i write the rest of the post i want to thank everyone (all 4 of you!! lol!) who actually reads my blog!! i was surprised to see that i had four comments on the last post -- that's pretty good! i think that's the most i've ever gotten on one! it was pretty interesting to see that me and my two bestest buds got the same score on the little quiz... wonder what that means.... lol.

this is my fiance's sister's daughter & husband (her step-dad). the title of the email she sent w/ the picture was "1,000 Words" because there are LITERALLY so many things about this picture the bring something to mind for her - the love she feels for both of them, how much her daughter looks like her at that age, the joy she felt being able to send them both off to the local Valentine's Father-Daughter dance... such a priceless and inspiring memory!!

i'm just SLIGHTLY unimpressed at how the title turned out overall... i couldn't find anything big enough to fit behind the words, and i didn't just wanna chop up a piece of cardstock to try to pull it away from the background... guess my creative gears were turning a little slowly tonight!!

thanks as always, my loyal subjects :]

hi, i'm Elmo!!! YAAAAAAY!!!

lol.... the thing that is funny about this (to me) is that my aunt's big huge Black Lab (Rocky) used to be SCARED STUPID of this tiny little plastic Elmo toy we had... if he was doing something bad or being annoying, she would get out Elmo and say "I...I'm Elmo!" in the Elmo voice and he wouldn't be able to get away fast enough... ahhhhh. Good times.

anyway, besides my interesting life story...

my friend Karen passed along this quiz in email, it was kind of cute... at least cute enough to share!

so I'm ELMO. YAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!! hehhehehe!! i guess i kind of have an Elmo personality... maybe not quite as annoying...

without further ado...

Everyone has a personality of a cartoon character. Have you ever asked yourself what cartoon character do you most resemble?

A group of investigators got together and analyzed the personalities of well known and modern cartoon characters. The information that was gathered was made into this test.

Answer all the questions (only 10) with what describes you best, add up all your Points (which are next to the answer that you choose) at the end and look for your results.

Do not cheat by looking at the end of the e-mail before you are done .

Then forward this to all your friends ( including the person who sent it to you ) and change the subject of this message to what character is you.

1. Which one of the following describes the perfect date?
a) Candlelight dinner (4 pts.)
b) Fun/Theme Park (2 pts.)
c) Painting in the park (5 pts)
d) Rock concert (1 pt.)
e) Going to the movies (3 pts.)

2. What is your favorite type of music?
a) Rock and Roll (2 pts.)
b) Alternative (1 pt.)
c) Soft Rock (4 pts.)
d) Country (5 pts )
e) Pop (3 pts.)

3. What type of movies do you prefer?
a) Comedy (2 pts.)
b) Horror (1 pt.)
c) Musical (3 pts.)
d) Romance (4 pts.)
e) Documentary (5 pts.)

4. Which one of these occupations would you choose if you only could choose one of these?
a) Waiter (4 pts.)
b) Professional Sports Player (5 pts.)
c) Teacher (3 pts.)
d) Police (2 pts.)
e) Cashier (1 pt)

5 What do you do with your spare time?
a) Exercise (5 pts.)
b) Read (4 pts.)
c) Watch television (2 pts.)
d) Listen to music (1 pt.)
e) Sleep (3 pts.)

6. Which one of the following colors do you like best?
a) Yellow (1 pt.)
b) White (5 pts.)
c) Sky Blue (3 pts)
d) Dark Blue(2 pts.)
e) Red (4 pts.)

7. What do you prefer to eat?
a) Snow (3 pts.)
b) Pizza (2 pts.)
c) Sushi (1 pt.)
d) Pasta (4 pts.)
e) Salad (5 pts.)

8. What is your favorite holiday ?
a) Halloween(1 pt.)
b) Christmas(3 pts.)
c) New Year (2 pts.)
d) Valentine's Day(4 pts.)
e) Thanksgiving(5 pts.)

9. If you could go to one of these places which one would it be?
a) Paris (4 pts)
b) Spain (5 pts)
c) Las Vegas (1 pt)
d) Hawaii (4 pts)
e) Hollywood (3 pts )

10. With which of the following would you prefer to spend time with?
a) Someone Smart (5 pts.)
b) Someone attractive (2 pts.)
c) Someone who likes to Party (1 pt.)
d) Someone who always has fun (3 pts.)
e) Someone very sentimental (4 pts.)

Now add up your points and find out the answer you have been waiting for! Put your character in the subject line and forward to your friends and back to the person that sent this to you.
Very interesting to see 'who' your friends are!

(10-16 points) You are Garfield :
You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.

(17-23 points) You are Snoopy:
You are fun; you are very cool and popular. You always know what's in and you ' re never out of style , y ou are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. You have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but you always come home with the family values that you learned Being married and having children are important to you, but only after you have had your share of fun times

(24-28 points) You are Elmo:
You h ave lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you always see the bright side of thin gs. Some good advice: try not to be too much of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.

(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants:
You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a journey, it' s funny and calm for the most part Stay away from traitors and jealous people and you will be stress free.

(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown:

You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious about all relationships. You are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don't let your passion confuse you with reality.

(44-50 points ) You are Dexter:

You are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity!

but it's March!!!

so this is what i get for poking fun at everyone up north when it was 80 degrees here while it was snowing here...

It turned quickly from rain into sleet into 1 1/2" flakes of snow in less than an hour, and this was the scene in less than two. As of right now the major roads and highways have become parking lots and all school has been cancelled or closed already for tomorrow. As much as 6" fell in Haslet just 20 mins. north of here, but we only got at most 2" total and for now (and probably for good) it has stopped. SPEEEECIAL.

They were also calling for "thundersnow"... which when I hear thunder I do NOT expect to look out the window and see SNOW with LIGHTNING BEHIND IT. Bullsh*t. And to think it was 80 last weekend.... almost 70 yesterday... can we say sick? UUUGH!

the epitome...

i'm really in love with these two songs right now...
lyrics always mean the world to me, and these ones always hit home.
if you know me, you know what i mean.
certain situations will remain anonymous to protect the guilty.
i just wanted to share the happiness and joy i feel when i listen to these songs :D

Forgotten :P

forgot about this one.... didn't realize i hadn't posted it on my blog till just now!

a little late for V-day but nonetheless...

the altered mailbox.

it sat on my desk for a week, with blue paint and black polka dots i did with the Heidi Swapp mask -- which did NOT turn out the way i wanted. :P so i found the MM paper instead and covered, then added the embellies and such. perfect timing getting the Shabby Rock Star kit from SIS in my box-o-goodies this week... those mailbox letters were exactly what i wanted!

TFL... Glad to finally have this one off my desk!!

this has been sitting on my desk for a MONTH. i liked it then i didnt, then i liked the pic, then i didn't, then i pulled the Prima paper off and it ripped the other paper so i had to put it back on and ended up going w/ this.

it was not scan worthy so sorry for the ugly picture.

i'm pretty sure i will like this one eventually but for right now i'm just glad it's over with....

i'm so crazy, i know it ;)

PS, this is my son... working on playing his dad's old Coronet... just another interesting detail that prob should have ended up on the page somehow :/

a little sunshine :]

this one is for all the snow-bunnies that are freezin' your butts off up north!! ha! ( sry. :D )

i was inspired to do this by 3 things: #1 - the brand-new package of AC Buttons in Dandelion that have been on my desk since May; #2 - my desire to get away from the pink/blue/green color combo; and C) - the little weather popup in my Firefox that told me the weather was 2 degrees and snowing in my hometown :D

figured we could ALL use a little sunshine...

Project: Valentines

my stepdaughter's Valentine's Day box & cards... inspired by me; worked on be Courtney, Daddy & me!! it was a family project! :D

i was inspired by a LO in last month's Scrapbooks Etc. to do these cards -- she loves kitties so heart shaped kitties were a big hit! they have heart-shaped suckers stuck to the backs of them (her idea). as far as the box goes, she WANTED to build a house out of painted popsicle sticks but my creativity conscience was telling me not to do it, so thank goodness we found the foam house kit! and all turned out well :D

thanks for looking, lots of fun, and this will make a cute deco for her bedroom when it's all said and done!!

mini book mania!!

i've been working on these for like, ever at this point... finally tired of trying to think of stuff to put in 'em and get 'em off my desk.

these started out as chunky 3" x 3" board books, sanded down and covered, then filled with junk including pics, paint chips, vellum envelopes, stickers, acrylic frames... lots to look at!!

i made one for each of my 3 nieces / nephew... their mom has a really cool shelf in her house that these would look GREAT on....

anyway, i'm pleased w/ these!! thanks for looking ;)
